In August 2025, Australian pensioners and welfare recipients will benefit from a 2.4% increase in their fortnightly Centrelink payments. This indexation adjustment reflects rising living costs and provides vital financial relief to around 2.6 million Australians who depend on government support. Alongside these increases, some recipients will receive cost-of-living bonuses, helping them manage everyday expenses more effectively.
Payment Type | New Fortnightly Amount (August 2025) |

Age Pension (Single) | $1,149.00 |
Age Pension (Couple Combined) | $1,732.20 |
JobSeeker (Single, No Children) | $693.10 |

Key Changes to Age Pension Payments
Single pensioners will see their payments increase by approximately $27 to $28 per fortnight, while couples combined will receive an increase of about $39 to $40 per fortnight. This boost also extends to the pension supplement and energy supplement, offering additional support for essential services such as electricity and healthcare.
Other Centrelink Payment Updates

Recipients of JobSeeker payments (single, no children) will receive around $19 to $20 more per fortnight. Youth Allowance recipients living away from home will benefit from an increase of approximately $20.80. In addition, maximum Rent Assistance for singles will rise by about $7.80 per fortnight, helping with housing costs.
Income and Asset Test Adjustments
Income test thresholds have increased by 2.4%, allowing pensioners to earn more before their payments are affected. Single pensioners can now earn up to $218 per fortnight and still receive a full pension, while couples can earn up to $380 combined.
Asset test limits have also risen to accommodate changing economic conditions. Homeowner singles can now have assets up to $321,500, and homeowner couples up to $481,500 while still receiving a full Age Pension. For non-homeowners, the limits are $579,500 for singles and $739,500 for couples.
One-Off Cost-of-Living Boost
Many pensioners also received a special cost-of-living payment in mid-August 2025. This one-time bonus targets recipients of Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Carer Payment, and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders, providing extra financial relief in the face of rising costs.
