Who We Are
At the heart of Emkan for Sustainable Development is a mission to uplift underprivileged communities and provide tools for long-term self-reliance. Our programs are rooted in sustainability and inclusivity, with an emphasis on creating meaningful change across both rural and urban regions of Lebanon.
We operate with a flexible, evolving model one that is guided by data, local context, and the principles of transparency, equity, and community participation.
Public Awareness: News & Policy Updates

As part of our mission to create informed communities, Emkan also operates as a reliable platform for Global News and Government Policy Updates. Through our editorial initiatives, we aim to educate citizens about key developments that affect economic, social, and environmental life – both in Lebanon and around the world.
We cover:
- Major government reforms and welfare schemes
- Global economic trends and their local impacts
- Sustainable development goals (SDGs) and green policy news
- Social justice, health, education, and human rights updates
Our goal is to empower the public with knowledge that leads to action and resilience.
Community Projects
From solar-powered water systems to income-generating programs, Emkan implements projects that empower people and strengthen local infrastructure. A key example is the Northern Lighting Project, where we installed renewable energy systems in over 16 regions, enabling efficient water pumping through solar power.
Our broader development strategy focuses on:
- Revitalizing local production using Lebanon’s own land, resources, and talents
- Improving product quality to meet international standards
- Reducing dependence on imports
- Creating sustainable jobs, especially for women and household caretakers
- Providing technical training and professional workshops
- Supporting SMEs and launching innovation hubs focused on green tech and IT
Charity & Emergency Relief
In response to Lebanon’s deepening economic crisis, Emkan – alongside Beirut for Social Development – has expanded its humanitarian efforts. These include:
- Food, medical, and shelter aid
- Financial assistance to vulnerable families
- Support programs for children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities
We are driven by urgency and compassion, aiming to reach the most affected individuals through efficient and transparent delivery of aid.
Our Strategic Vision
Emkan’s 5-year plan is crafted with one goal in mind: maximum impact with minimal resources. Our strategy includes:
- Priority planning based on regional needs
- Sustainable asset development
- Cost reduction and quality improvement
- Access to local and international markets
- Risk and SWOT analysis to future-proof projects
By linking various development cycles, we ensure synergy, longevity, and real transformation across communities.
Governance & Structure

We are guided by the 8 United Nations Principles of Good Governance: Participation, Rule of Law, Transparency, Responsiveness, Consensus, Equity, Effectiveness, and Accountability. Our structure is designed to support agility, scalability, and accountability in every initiative we take on.
